We were proud to be involved in the extensive renovations being carried out to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. Working for main contractor BAM Construction we have been contracted to uplift over 1,500m2 of the original one hundred year old oak and pine parquet blocks, remove them from site and clean them up and make ready for reinstalling them at the gallery. We are also tasked with installing new oak herringbone pattern parquet designs to some of the new spaces being created. Finally we will sand the entire parquet floor areas, fill it where required and prime the floors before finally applying several coats of hard wearing lacquer. McKay Flooring Ltd dedicated two operatives to this site for over a year – working full time on repairs and refitting the renovated original blocks, as the job nears completion we have increased our site presence to eight CSCS certified parquet floor operatives to help meet the tight deadlines and to work around the many other trades still working in the facility.
