Parquet floor sanding – a facelift for old floors
It’s akin to finding an old yet valuable painting in your attic. Lifting up an old dusty carpet to discover a parquet floor underneath. What a find! Our job is to give that old parquet floor (it might look in really poor condition) a complete facelift. It may be over 50 years (or older) but once we’ve performed our operation it will look like a brand new floor. That’s the beauty of wood flooring – it can be allowed to age gracefully or it can sanded back to become a new floor surface. Over the years it will change colour and might be worn in places. Many people love this old look but sometimes a little parquet floor sanding is required to breathe new life and an new feel to a room space.
Oils, stains and lacquers
The quality and range of floor stains these days is excellent. Stains give you the option to match furniture, door and panelling colours to provide a better finish to your room. Want a glossy sheen to your parquet floor or more of a matt finish? Choosing an oil or lacquer allows you the creative freedom to get the room to your own bespoke specification. We can even provide you with a selection of funky coloured stains and oils if you really want that unique look.
Sanding and sealing a new floor
Once a new parquet floor is installed it needs to be sanded and finished on site. This smooths out any slight edges between blocks and provides a good surface for the finishing coats to adhere to.
